Below is a personal update from our CEO and founder, Sean Patrick Tario. This was recently shared with our ecosystem of friends, partners, providers and clients and we wanted to also share this with our expanded network here on our blog as well so you can learn more about where we are today and where we’re headed in the very near future. Enjoy.

……………………………………………………..

It’s been awhile, and I apologize for not staying on top of the regular communication schedule that I’ve been able to manage over the past few years. Thing is, I have honestly had some of the busiest and hardest last few months of my life both personally and professionally.

Good news is, everything going on is all absolutely amazing stuff and exactly what I’ve been working my tail off to accomplish over the past few years. Bad news is, as the volume of deal flow, relationships we’re managing, training events we’re producing and new marketing initiatives we’re working on has been increasing… the number of people I have on my team to help carry the load has decreased. Couple this with my traveling 2 weeks out of the month for nearly the past 2 years, fundraising and planning a move for both my family and the business from the Silicon Valley, CA (where I’ve lived for the past 17.5 years) to Raleigh, NC (where I’ve never lived before)… and hopefuly you can understand why I’ve been MIA.

There is a light at the end of this tunnel however, and it’s getting brighter every day. Here’s where we’re at to this extent:

PRIVATE EVENTS GOING NUTS
The number of private DeltaForceIT training events we’re hosting and producing has increased from 1 every 3-4 months to 2 every month. This has unfortunately meant a reduction in the number of “open” events being produced over the past few months, as the logistics involved managing an “open” event are far more complicated than a private event.

ONLINE PLATFORM AT THE FINISH LINE
The online training platform I’ve been talking about all year is about to go live… finally! In fact, Eric and I spent all day yesterday on our feet at a video production studio cranking out about half the video content. If I wasn’t about to leave for 2 weeks to Miami, Raleigh and then Washington DC, we’d likely have everything launched by the end of next week… but unfortunately we can’t get back into the studio until I’m back in town, so we need to further delay the launch. This said, we’re on the last mile of this marathon and I’m stoked with what we’ve developed so far.

$500K RAISED… STILL RAISING!
We’ve successfully raised @ $500K to date. I’m still sending out paperwork and collecting checks, but the committments are there. There’s even more investment capital available that I will likely continue to chase, especially given the bulk of this round of financing has unexpectedly come through the debt vs. equity financing option offered. Hence, if anyone is still interested in participating… please let me know!

BOARD OF ADVISORS
As I’ve been taking things to the next level, I’ve been slowly assembling over the past few months a Board of Advisors to help guide me along the way. I’ve been speaking to an assortment of client advocates, trusted industry executives and successful entrepreneurs who are of like mind and heart to this extent. They see what’s been accomplished thus far on a bootstrapped budget, the vision I have for the company and can help hold me accountable to achieving my vision, stear me away from road blocks and accellerate growth. At this point, it’s simply finding the time to draft and execute the needed paperwork to make this official… which God willing will be some point before the end of the year.

NEW CAST OF CHARACTERS
I’ve also been assembling an expanded cast of characters to help manage the desperately needed marketing, branding, operations and accounting side of things. I can not even begin to tell you how excited I am to announce over the coming weeks and months who these people are. Just know, they are some of my favorite people in the industry and, like the new Board of Advisors, it’s simply a matter of drafting and executing paperwork at this point.

“WAIT… WHAT?! YOU’RE MOVING!”
Yep, you heard that correctly, we’re moving. My house has been on the market for a week and we’re already entertaining offers. If you’re on the market looking for a stunning 3 bedroom on a 1/3 of an acre up in the Santa Cruz mountains… let me know! We’re also already looking at properties in Raleigh (partly why I’m headed there next week) to land my family and the business into. Crazy enough, this is happening, and though I will miss dearly so many friends and family out here in California, this move feels right on pretty much every single level we can think of. If you want to learn more, give me a shout and I’m happy to dive into the details. Better yet, if you know solid people in/around the Raleigh/Durham area, I would love an introduction!

THE ROLLUP
Hard to believe, but over the past 2 years I’ve been through 17 different cities hosting over 25 bootcamps and personally toured over 300 data centers. Truly, I just blew my own mind running these numbers! Through my travels across the country I’ve gained a much greater appreciation for the people and companies that make our industry tick. I’ve developed countless new relationships and only lement my inability to stay in touch more regularly with everyone. This will be changing soon however, because…

Not only will the firm be growing through the marketing and operations personnel listed above, we’ll be bringing on a NATIONAL team of experienced and successful solution architects who can speak up and down the entire IT stack. They will be responsible for managing relationships with partners and providers within specific regions across the country, hosting their own bootcamps within the region and generally serving as overlays to support one another on deals and projects. I am just as excited to announce here shortly this amazing group of men and women assembled! Time and paperwork, again, are the only things preventing this from becoming an official announcement.

THE NEW INSIDER CALL
After producing a number of monthly live calls with our partner and select service provider network, it dawned on me that the conversations I REALLY wanted to be having and the information I REALLY wanted to share was relevant to a much wider audience than the select and growing 120 people within our “Insider Call” list. It also became clear that the format of having a select time and day every month that people needed to join to listen wasn’t functional for most of us who have insane schedules.

Hence, we started retooling the format of the call to convert it into a higher quality and extended Podcast that could be downloaded/consumed on-demand. Although technology today makes producing this type of media relatively cheap and easy, given everything outlined above, hopefully you can see now why this got moved down the list of priorities over the past few months and why you haven’t heard from me through this format.

This said, we intend to relaunch and rebrand this monthly “call”… which may even become an every other week thing… sometime early Q1 2016 once we have the additional resources at our disposal to create a quality production. This, too, I am extremely excited about as it will provide me with the forum to finally conduct some very unique, unfiltered and enlightening interviews with executives within our industry. If you’ve read any of the “Leadership Lessons” interviews we have produced that are already up on the OpenSpectrumInc.com blog right now, you’ll get the theme we’ll be going after.

CONCLUSIONS
As you can see, though we’ve been silent and distant in our communications, we’ve been far from quiet. I am literally watching my visions become manifest reality before my eyes on almost a daily basis these days. With the exception of experiencing the births of my 3 kids, this is without a doubt the most stressful and exhilirating thing I’ve ever experienced.

So, there you have it. This is what we’re up to. This is where we’re headed. Thank you so much for helping us get to where we are today, and thank you in advance for helping us continue to execute on the vision of creating a company that is much more than just another transactional brokerage firm, but a family of seasoned, enlightened and trusted solution architects who love to solve complex problems and actually add value within the relationships and industries we serve.

If I could ask of you one thing before you move on today, please send me some prayers and positive vibrations as we push through these next few days, weeks and months. With so much going on, on so many levels, and so many balls in the air, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Stay tuned.

Sean
